I accept private pay via debit, credit card, or Health Savings Accounts. I currently do not take insurance, but can provide superbills for potential reimbursement from your insurance company. Not all plans reimburse for psychological services; please check with your provider for eligibility.
There are many reasons why a therapist would choose to not take insurance, but here are my personal determining factors:
Insurance companies frequently interfere with the therapy process by dictating how many sessions are covered, as well as requiring a psychiatric diagnosis in order to receive coverage. This diagnosis becomes a part of the client’s permanent medical record. Insurance companies requiring a diagnosis forces the therapist’s hand to label any presenting issue under a certain diagnostic code, even when that diagnosis may not fully apply. Limited sessions also mean the depth and effectiveness of our work together will likely be impacted. This approach has always felt very out of alignment for how I choose to work with clients.
Different insurance companies dictate different pay-out rates for therapists, which means knowing how much we as therapists will make per session becomes much more complicated. For example, BCBS might pay out $130, while Aetna might pay $90.
Clawbacks, random changes in pay-out rates, and slow response times are all factors that make working with insurance companies challenging for solo practitioners, as we are much less likely to correctly estimate what our income will be from month to month, which can impact our ability to cover the costs of our business for that time.
Being an out-of-pocket provider allows me to correctly estimate my income, which creates much more ease and security when budgeting and doing financial planning for my business. As a self-run private practice, all associated business costs come directly from income made solely from our sessions, including my health insurance and covering any time I take off, which makes knowing what’s coming in monthly that much more important.

The connection between our physical and mental health is undeniable. Holistic in reference to therapy is defined as the treatment of the whole person, taking into account physical, mental and social factors. Aside from psychoanalysis and emotional processing, we will also explore how your physical health plays a role in your healing, and discuss things like diet, exercise, sleep quality, your menstrual cycle, nervous system regulation, and wellness practices. I am trained in ACT and CFT — two approaches that focus on mindfulness and compassion, as well as in yoga and somatic practices, which use the signals of the physical body as another avenue to better understand and treat our mental health issues.

Both! We can accommodate your sessions to be either, depending on your needs that week. My office space is located off Bee Caves Rd. in central Austin near the Rollingwood/Westlake area.

I highly recommend clients be able to attend at least every two weeks at the beginning of our work together, with weekly being best. There is much ground to cover at the initiation of our sessions, and anything further out than two weeks can hinder the momentum and productivity of our work together.

At first, we'll cover a lot of your family history, childhood, and relationship timelines. As we progress, you can expect a mix of classic talk therapy, inner child work, somatic or present-moment awareness work, challenging of limiting beliefs/behaviors, and value-driven goal setting. Every session looks a little different, depending on your needs for that week!
