Fernanda Barceló, MA, LPC, RYT-500

Do you crave a more engaging form of therapy? Something more inviting, and less cold and clinical? Then welcome to something different, friend.

The number one complaint I hear from my clients about past experiences with therapy is how impersonal and detached their experience felt. They craved more warmth, and a vested interest from their therapist in their growth — an ideal mixture of sincerity, kindness, advocacy, and accountability.

Tailor-made for women, my approach weaves together all of these elements, creating a container that provides powerful and life-changing results. A sense of feeling safe, seen, and understood takes precedence over “fixing things,” since I don’t buy into the belief that any of us are broken to begin with.

So, if you’re struggling with things like high anxiety, low-self worth, or simply feeling lost, then you’ve come to the right place. Together, we will work to break past your limiting behaviors and create space for self-compassion, deep emotional healing, and enriching relationships.

The five limbs that make up my therapeutic approach are :

inner-child work

self-compassion & self-advocacy

somatic (or “in-body”) approaches

recognizing & shifting limiting beliefs

the pursuit of fierce integrity

Used in tandem, these approaches create a pathway to understanding ourselves with deeper clarity and greater self-acceptance, which allows us to change our whole lives for the better.

In session, we will dive into the roots of your struggles by digging into childhood and family of origin history, while simultaneously focusing on the current manifestations of these issues as they show up in your adult relationships.

Together, we will cultivate better coping strategies, and recognize areas in your life where you can begin to take back control from habitual or reactive behaviors — all while heavily infusing the process with self-compassion work. You’ll also receive homework and tools to use outside of our sessions to help deepen your work, and to appease the parts of us that want the therapy process to feel tangible & productive.

By working collaboratively to create acceptance of your authentic self, you can drop the struggle with your messy parts, embrace your personal truths, and bravely step into a life that is deeply reflective of all that you wish to embody.

I am currently accepting new in-person & teletherapy clients.

I specialize in working with:

  • WOMEN / WOMEN-IDENTIFYING (ages 18 & older)

  • THE HUSTLER : the woman with a strong work ethic, big goals, and a really long to-do list. She works tirelessly to pursue her career aspirations & passions, but often gets burnt out in the process. She tends to be a perfectionist, and has a hard time softening her need to do it all. She is seeking more balance, less self-criticism, and space for self-care in her endlessly-packed schedule.

  • THE EMPATH : an emotionally intelligent & intuitive woman, she often puts everyone’s needs before her own, and feels everything intensely — which usually results in overwhelm and anxiety. She is a nurturer, caregiver, and the person everyone turns to for advice or help. She needs support with setting boundaries, emotional regulation, and voicing her needs so that she has space to tend to herself.

  • THE ONE IN TRANSITION : the woman at the start of a big life change. Usually in her late twenties or early thirties, she’s experiencing a deep desire to evolve. She may be craving a career change, taking inventory of what relationships serve her, and desiring a life that feels more reflective of her own evolution. As she gets clearer on who she is and what she wants, she needs support forging a new, more in-integrity path.

  • THE NEW MAMA : the woman experiencing what can be both the most challenging & most rewarding chapter of a woman’s life: the whirlwind of motherhood. She needs support managing the anxiety that arises from juggling her little one, her household, her relationships, her changing body, and maybe even her career, too — phew! She is in need of emotional support, validation, and regulation, and a space that is solely dedicated to HER and her mental wellbeing.

I also specialize in :

  • relationships, dating, and female friendships

  • coping with anxiety and burnout

  • navigating your twenties & thirties

  • mother-daughter relationships

  • boundary work & communication skills

  • creating self-care and compassion-focused practices

  • Latina cultural issues (se habla Español)
